OK, let's try this in reverse order. Keep in mind, that while I think the Japanese OS is very exotic looking, I haven't a clue what it says, so these are guesses based on the graphcs. As long as you're happy with the AltaVista bar, I'm happy. I was just asking if you installed it, rather than it mysteriously appearing.
The two screen shots with the 'error' messages. Thw upper one with the FlashLight, probably says that it can't find 'wmplayer.exe'.
That probably happens when you click a shortcut for WindowsMediaPlayer.
Then it pops up the second box, that probably allows, that the closest file that matches the file it was looking for is in the WindowsMediaPlayer folder and is called mplayer2.exe.
And did you want the shortcut to point to that new file.
Since you upgraded WMP and you probably want to click the 'Yes/OK' button.
System Restore, can be turned on at the System Properties tab.
Here's the instructions from the English 'Help and Support' listing:
" To open System Properties, click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System. In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab. "
If I remember right, we hinted at the icons used in the English version to find those places in the your Japanese version.
'Control Panel' looks like a WhiteBoard with a Pencil and CheckMark on it.
'Performance and Maintenance' is near the bottom, and looks like a blue Pie Chart.
'System' is the last icon that looks like a computer system with a checkmark on the screen.
And the System Restore tab is the tab above the 'General' tab, which is what System Properties normally opens to.
Good Luck.
