A link to all that good stuff to un-install NAV (Versions thru NAV 2003)

Norton Uninstall Tool

Manual Uninstall instructions for all flavors of NAV at the bottom of the page.

There's a lot of information here so be sure to read the page
carefully.

And for the NAV2004 versions..the following link. It gets a little complicated depending up how NAV 2004 was installed on the system.

How to completely remove Norton AntiVirus 2004

NAV 2004....all flavors

Uninstalling and reinstalling Norton AntiVirus 2006

Win 2000, WinXP ( In case anybody wonders...there is no 2006 for any version of Win9X thus no install instructions. Win9X users can go no higher than 2005 versions)

Uninstalling Live Update

Removing LiveUpdate after Add/Remove Programs does not work and no other Symantec products are installed

Uninstalling and reinstalling your Symantec program after you see error messages

AND the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility as mentioned in the link above.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

Symantec keeps moving things and deleting things....so it would be a good idea to print copies of those links that have manual clean info in them....makes hunting up thoe registry keys and folders a whole lot easier.

Removing your Norton program using SymNRT

Situation:

Another document in the Symantec knowledge base or a Symantec Technical Support technician sent you here.

Solution:
SymNRT is a program that can remove some Norton software from your computer. SymNRT runs on Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.

SymNRT should be used only if you have tried to uninstall the Norton program using Windows Add/Remove Programs and that did not work.

Will SymNRT work for you?
SymNRT will remove these--and only these--Norton programs:

Norton AntiVirus 2004/2005
Norton AntiVirus Professional 2004
Norton AntiVirus 3, 5 and 10 User Pack 2004/2005
Norton SystemWorks 2004/2004 Professional Edition
Norton SystemWorks 2005/2005 Premier edition
Norton Password Manager 2004
Norton Internet Security 2004/2005
Norton Internet Security 5 and 10 User Pack 2004/2005
Norton Personal Firewall 2004/2005
Norton AntiSpam 2004/2005
Ghost 2003 or Ghost Version 9.0

If your program is not in this list, do not use SymNRT. It will not remove your program. If you need help with removing programs not in this list, go to the Technical Information section near the bottom of this page.

Ms.A

Excuse me. Would you pick that up for me please?
I seem to keep loooosing my head!

Note tool has been revised 11-28-2005. It may be a good idea to check for a revised issue from time to time if you plan to save this for your archive and want to have an up to date version.

I went on the Symantec website listed above and I'm not able to download any of the files that would help me in removing my Norton. I know it says it has been revised on 2/24/06, but whenever I click on the file to download, it just goes to an error page...

Is there another website that would help me in getting rid of Norton Antivirus 2005 and 2006?

Thanks!

Try it again, and this time, should you have a version of xp, HOLD The Ctrl key, then click for the down load. It took about 20 seconds for them to start for me.

Seems you caught them woking on the site, thus leading to that error message. Which would be normal.

And now we have.some updates to the Removal tool.

It now works for all versions of Norton/Symantec products through 2008.....last updated 9/06/07

http://tinyurl.com/4kave

Then we have a Dead Link Update - Solution 2 tool no longer available

Using the Norton Removal Tool: Solution 2 - Manual Download & Uninstall via manual downloaded file.

Uninstalls All Norton 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, , 2008 products

The file is very small and will fit on a floppy. So it's a "take me along" cleaner.

Looks like the online version has gone the way of the Dodo...link now defaults to the downloadable manual version.

Updates to the tool made 9/06/07. Please check the bottom of each link to decide if you should refresh you copy. Don't know just exactly what changes are made with the "updates", but being aware that your copy is current is always a good idea.

Also note that there are new instructions:

The Norton Removal Tool uninstalls all Norton 2008/2007/2006/2005/2004/2003 products and Norton 360 from your computer. If you use ACT! or WinFAX, back up those databases before you proceed.
